Can I just regularly chill in a bar talking liberal politics (with the occasional TV discussion and CD swap) with Rachel Maddow? Please?

andnowyoutellme:

“Don’t flirt with me and then ask me to make this easier for you. I love you but I’m not prepared to pretend that I think leaving rehab was a good decision.”
Later….
Jackie: “Lesbians on the rocks.”
O’Hara: “Oh darling, you shouldn’t have.”
Well, look at that lesbian subtext becoming increasingly more obvious… as in, any more glaringly obvious and there would need to be an anvil falling through the ceiling of O’Hara’s office. Oh Nurse Jackie writers, how I adore you!  Well, I know what frivolling and I will be watching on a loop when we’re inevitably drunk on Sunday night…

Drift is densely packed with years of research and unapologetic political wonk, but just like on her show, Maddow tempers the academia with whimsical anecdotes and spit-taking humor. I own a book containing all the declassified documents from the Iran-Contra scandal; it’s like a thousand pages long. But Maddow sums it up thusly: Iran-Contra was like “‘F-k Congress,’ only in Latin.” She explores it more deeply than that, of course, but she does candor with a perfect mix of cleverness. - Heather Hogan

5 reasons you should read Rachel Maddow’s Drift
